Caldwell County, NC -- It's been more than a year since we first heard about Zahra Baker. She's the 10-year-old murdered and dismembered by her stepmother, Elisa Baker. Zahra was reported missing in October 2010 and some of her remains were found a month later.

Now, more than a year after her death, a memorial in her honor is nearly complete.

Construction began last week, now the concrete is poured and the sign and decorations are up. The memorial is just a few feet from the spot in Caldwell County where investigators found some of Zahra's remains.

The property owner want people who pass by to think of Zahra and other children who may be in trouble. "If it can help one kid, it's all worth it," said Jake Icenhour. "This is our property, our land, and nobody will make us move it," he said.

Icenhour plans to put a clause in the deed to his property so that no matter who owns it in the future, the memorial will stay.
