Sheriff: Two Bodies Found During Car Fire On Stacey Road In Rockingham County

Ruffin, NC -- Two bodies were found following a fire in Rockingham County Monday morning.

Sheriff Sam Page said fire crews were called to a car fire on Stacey Road in Ruffin around 5:30am.  Firefighters put out the car fire and a fire at an adjacent barn.  It was after the car fire was extinguished that they found the two bodies.

One of the bodies was inside the car, the other was outside of the car, lying on the ground nearby.

Investigators with the sheriff's department are working with the Rockingham County Fire Marshall and the State Bureau of Investigation to determine the identities of the victims and how they got there.

Stacey Road was blocked as deputies investigated the situation.
