Greensboro --  School is back in session and many kids have had to give up their care-free summers.  While some kids were hanging out at the pool, at least one was hanging out at a homeless shelter.

Cameron McClellan, a high school junior, is an artist at heart.  She even attends a school which lets her focus on playing the piano.  According to her, "art is her world."

When it came time to choose a Gold Award project for Girl Scouts, she decided to combine art with her other passion... the homeless.  No, she's not your typical teenager.

She has been taking art supplies to the Interactive Resource Center twice a week the whole summer.  She has created quite a following.  According to her mother, the clients at the center tend to have the tables set up and they are waiting for her when she gets there.  While the people there enjoy art as an emotional outlet, they enjoy McClellan's company even more.  She says the relationships are even more important than the art she loves so much.

Girl Scouting has made a huge impact on McClellan's life.  The girls do much more than sell cookies and go camping.  They are really making a difference in the world around them.  If you would like to give Girl Scouting another try, check out their website.  No uniform required!
