Madison, NC --  It was a case of a real-life "Winnie The Pooh" in Madison earlier this week.

Beekeeper Jonathan Knight said a bear broke into his hive Wednesday night.

"He didn't do much damage inside," said Knight.  "I think he was spooked cause he didn't get no honey."

Some of the boxes in the hive were knocked over and the bear left paw prints and tracks near the hive.  He was able to fix his beehive but is hoping the bear doesn't come back for seconds.

"The game warden says he's just passing through and everything and they don't think he'll be coming back," said Knight.

"The game warden says he's just passing through and everything and they don't think he'll be coming back," said Knight.

The Madison Police department received reports of a bear roaming the area for about a week.

Law enforcement in Wilkes, Rockingham and Wake County have also received reports of bear sightings.  So far, none of the reports have included threatening behavior towards humans.

Wildlife experts said this is the time of year young bears wander out to find new homes.
