Raleigh, NC -- A poll recently conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP) shows the majority of North Carolinians are still UNC fans, despite a bump in Duke's popularity after their national championship win last year.
PPP surveyed 575 North Carolina voters from January 20 to 23.
The poll showed 37 percent root for Carolina blue during the UNC/Duke matchup, while 22 percent pull for their darker blue rivals.
The results are almost identical to the rivalry poll breakdown in February 2010, before Duke won the national championship.

The poll also showed while Carolina fans identified as "hardcore" dropped by 4 percent, "hardcore" Duke fans went up by 6 percent. However, Carolina still has more fans overall considered "hardcore".
Last year's poll showed the rivalry between the two ACC teams might be more hype than hatred.
The UNC-Duke men's basketball game airs tonight at 9 p.m. on WFMY News 2. Criminal Minds will air at 2:07 am and Blue Bloods will air at 3:07 am on Thursday.
