Durham, NC -- UNC and Duke will go head-to-head Wednesday night for the 230th time since their first matchup in January 1920. In that first game, UNC beat Duke, known as Trinity College, 36-25.
The "Battle for Tobacco Road" is arguably college basketball's greatest rivalry. Carolina leads the series 130-99, however Duke won both games last season.
In their last matchup, Duke crushed Carolina 82-50. That game marked the Tar Heel's worst loss in 94 games played at Duke.
This season, Duke (21-2, 8-1 ACC) heads into the game ranked No. 5 in the latest Associated Press poll. North Carolina (17-5, 7-1 ACC) is ranked No. 20. UNC and Duke have met 66 times when both teams have been ranked in the Top 25. The game also marks the 146th consecutive game in which one of the two teams have been ranked in a national poll.
The winner of this game will take the top spot in the ACC standings.
