Greensboro, NC -- A Greensboro convenience store may get a reputation as a lucky store after selling two winning tickets in one week.
Both tickets were sold at the All in One Stop on South Elm Eugene Street. Sunday, they sold the winning Carolina Cash Five ticket, worth $491,933 to William Partee. Partee, a retired home improvement salesman, received a boost for his retirement fund thanks to his lucky birthday numbers. Partee, who retired in April, has been playing numbers, based on birthdays of himself, his wife, two sons and his oldest grandson, ever since the lottery started. Partee said he planned to use his prize money, worth $334,514 after taxes, to pay off his bills, his mortgage and save the rest for retirement
Then, on Wednesday, Robert Lindsay bought a winning Powerball ticket from the same store. Lindsay matched all five white balls but not the power ball so he won $200,000. Lindsay, who is an Army veteran and a retired ROTC instructor, decided four months ago to use dates from his military history, such as the day he enlisted and courses he completed, as his Powerball numbers. Lindsay plans to use his winnings, worth $136,000 after taxes, to pay bills for himself and his son.
