King, NC --A Stokes County school bus driver has been charged with having a weapon on school grounds, a felony.
Superintendent Stewart Hobbs said the driver, Wayne Lindsay, has a permit to carry a concealed weapon and thought it was okay to leave the gun in his car while he drove the bus.
He left his car parked at Meadowbrook Alternative School while he drove the bus. Someone alerted the School Resource Officer that Lindsay had a gun in his car.
Hobbs said Lindsay is suspended while the Stokes County Sheriff's Department investigates. Captain Craig Carico said they have seized Lindsay's gun permit.
Lindsay has been released from jail on a $5,000 bond.
