Greensboro, NC--You can be a hero to people with difficulty walking.
Angel Hands/Nurse Aid of Greensboro is collecting used wheelchairs to donate to people in need.
The organization is looking for walkers, manual and electric wheelchairs, and lift chairs.
Workers make minor repairs and sterilize the chairs before giving them out.
Angel Hands/Nurse Aid's youngest patient is one month old, and the oldest is 107 years old.
"Without a walker or sometimes without a wheelchair, they can't get up, they can't get up," said Don Perkins, owner of Angel Hands-Nurse Aid. "They can't move around and they're confined to a bed or a chair the whole day. And their quality of life suffers."
You can drop off your used, working wheelchairs at Angel Hands/Nursing Aid.
It's located at 2722 N. Church Street in Greensboro.
