Greensboro, NC -- ABB Power Products announced it will be closing its Greensboro plant on Banner Avenue. The operations for the Medium Voltage Power Products business unit will be consolidated to their plant in Edgecombe County.
There are 48 employees at the Greensboro plant. The company said that 38 of them will have the opportunity to relocate to the other plant.
The Greensboro product lines including cutouts, switches, capacitors fuses will be transitioned to ABB's Pinetops unit in Edgecombe County.
"ABB deeply regrets the impact this move will have on employees and their families. ABB will offer to assist its affected employees as much as possible. Eligible ABB employees may be eligible for services such as resume preparation and career counseling and ABB's Employee Assistance Program (EAP), as well as unemployment benefits, severance pay and 60 days of company-paid medical benefits. Additionally, information on possible job openings at other ABB facilities will be made available."
