Greensboro, NC -- Sunday pet lovers got to meet a dog who's survived the extreme.
Susie, who was badly beaten and burned and was found at an abandoned park in Greensboro, has now become the story behind Susie's Law.
The dog greeted people Sunday at All Pets Considered.
It was also a chance for Susie's friends to raise awareness about animal abuse. NC Senator Don Vaughn is pushing for Susie's Law.
Susie's law would increase the class of felony for animal abusers allowing sentences with jail time.
A judge sentenced the man in Susie's case to serve 4 to 5 months of probation for a class one felony of cruelty to animals.
Susie will soon go before the state senate.
