Greensboro, NC -- The Greensboro City Council has thrown its support behind "Susie's Law."
The law is named after Susie, the puppy burned, beaten and left to die in Greensboro's Greenfield Park last summer.
The law pushes for tougher penalties for animal abuse.
LaShawn Whitehead, the man who pleaded guilty to abusing Susie, was given a six to eight month prison sentence. Susie supporters say that isn't enough.
With "Susie's Law," supporters want to get animal abuse changed to a Class F Felony.
