Mount Airy, NC -- Police are looking for anyone with information about who painted a bronze statue of Andy Griffith.

Tanya Jones, Executive Director of the Surry County Arts Council, says they think the statue was vandalized Saturday night.

The vandals painted Sheriff Andy Taylor's hair green. Part of his face and badge were painted red.

TV Land unveiled the bronze statue in 2004. TV Land will send a maintenance crew to remove the paint.

Jones says police are looking to see if surveillance cameras captured video of the vandals.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to Mount Airy Crimestoppers at (336) 786-4000.
