People started lining up outside Davis's funeral an hour before the service began.

Fayetteville, NC -- Thousands of people gathered in Fayetteville to say goodbye to five-year-old Shaniya Davis.

Davis' father, aunt, and other family members spoke and shared memories of the five-year-old girl. People sang and cried as pictures of Shaniya and her family played in a slide show.

Police found Davis's body in a wooded area in Lee County last Monday. Arrest warrants say she was raped and strangled the same day she was taken from her mother's mobile home two weeks ago.

Police charged Mario McNeill with Shaniya's kidnapping, rape, and murder. Shaniya's mother, Antoinette Davis, is charged with child abuse, and human trafficking of a child involving prostitution.
