FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) -- The Army is closing a medical unit at South Carolina's Fort Jackson dedicated to treating injured soldiers as it is expands a similar group at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

Army officials say the moves are part of a service-wide reorganization brought on by the wars winding down in Iraq and Afghanistan, and fewer wounded soldiers are coming home.

The medical unit at Fort Jackson has 36 soldiers in its "Warrior Transition Unit." There are nearly 300 in the unit at Fort Bragg.

Col. Mark Higdon says the soldiers and their families will continue to be the focus of their attention as the Army realigns. An Army spokesman says none of the soldiers should have to move because of the changes.
