GREENSBORO, N.C. -- It's official, Monday, January 20,  DH Griffin says they will begin demolition of the Greensboro Inn.

David Parrish, Assistant City Manager tells WFMY News 2 Friday the inn will be the first of the structures to be demolished to make way for the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts site development.

Parrish says the demolition is expected to take three to four weeks.

While the work is ongoing, parking spaces directly adjacent to the Greensboro Inn will be temporarily closed due to safety concerns.

The Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts will replace the Inn.

The man heading the demolition, David Griffin Jr., says it's an honor to help lay out history.

"We love to see inner cities come back," Griffin said. "Cities use to be popular and then they start fading away. This keeps revitilization coming into downtowns."
