RALEIGH, N.C. - New information on the vortex ride that malfunctioned, sending five people to the hospital.
A search warrant just released Thursday says the ride's owner knew about the safety problems before riders got hurt in October. Investigators say the ride had been tampered with.
The warrant says ride owner Josh Macaroni and ride operator Timothy Tutterrow both knew of a malfunction involving safety restraints, four days before the ride stopped suddenly and threw people off the Vortex.
Both men face three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury.
