Triad to See Coldest Temperatures In Nearly A Decade

GREENSBORO, NC--As the Arctic cold front approaches, rain will redevelop especially after midnight. Tonight's low will be 37. Any rain or snow showers will end  Monday morning. Behind the front, strong northwesterly winds that could gust to near 30 mph with usher very cold air into the Piedmont for Monday through Wednesday. It will become sunny, windy and much colder during Monday afternoon. Temperatures will hold in the mid 30's during the day but drop to near 20 by sunset. 

It will be clear, breezy and very cold Monday night with a low of 8. The current record low is 14 set in 1988. Overnight wind chills will dip to between 0 and -10 degrees and will hold near zero during the day Tuesday. The high on Tuesday will be 24 with plenty of sunshine but breezy conditions.

It will be sunny on Wednesday with a morning low of 12 and and an afternoon high temperature of 36.

Temperatures will moderate back into the low and mid 40's with increasing clouds on Thursday and Friday. There will be a slight chance of rain Thursday night and Friday.

Our normal high is 48, and our normal low is 29.
