ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. -- The Red Cross food pantry in Rockingham County needs help.
In a typical year, food pantries have an abundance of food after the holiday, but the American Red Cross says food donations are so low they are likely to run out by the end of the week. This food pantry is the only one in the county that is open five days per week. It's also the only one that accepts food donations, rather than money.
Monetary donations can be dropped off of sent to the Rockingham County food bank in need. When you write a check, just be sure to make it out to the American Red Cross, and the memo line needs to be made out to the Rockingham County Food Pantry.
According to the Red Cross, the food pantry can provide one week of groceries per household per month. They serve about 1,500 households.
Non-perishable donations can be made Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. at 3692 Highway 14 in Reidsville.
