Police: Victim Falsely Reported Kidnapping At Hanes Mall

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem police say a kidnapping that was reported on Saturday evening at Hanes Mall did not happen.

As a result of their investigation, officers told WFMY News 2  no attempted kidnapping, assault, or any kind of incident occurred on Hanes Mall property.

The incident was determined to be a domestic assault that happened at another location. The suspect in this incident was known to the victim, according to police.

Police say detectives are still investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the domestic assault.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The victim originally told police she was walking from JC Penney's to her car when she noticed a man behind her. According to the police report, she was punched in the face after struggling with the man.
