Remebering Fallen With Wreath Laying Ceremony

GREENSBORO, NC -- The Triad joined thousand around the world in a mission to lay wreaths on the graves of Veterans around the globe.

On Saturday, December 14th, people gathered at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro AT 11 a.m. Organizers with "Wreaths Across America" raised $14,750 to help buy 1,100 wreaths.

During the ceremony, the Marine Corps Honor and Color Guard played patriotic music as thousands of wreaths were laid on the headstones of fallen heroes.

A World War II veteran was the guest speaker for the ceremony.

"If we don't remember our past, we'll do nothing to meet the challenges of the future," said William Long a WWII Veteran.

Long told WFMY News 2, he has dedicated his life to raising awareness of those who have served and died for this country.
