GREENSBORO, N.C.-- The University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) continued its holiday tradition of putting out luminaries around campus.
More than 1,000 luminaries will light up the campus Tuesday night.
The tradition started on Reading in December of 1969 and continues to be held on Reading Day.
This year profits from luminary sponsors will go towards a chosen charity. The 2013 charity will be a beginning teacher at Siler City Elementary.
Students and community members can sponsor a luminary for $1.00 in honor of a loved one or send a message of holiday cheer.
