WFMY News 2 has been nominated for multiple regional EMMY Awards including Best Evening Newscast.
2 Wants To Know @ 5:30 was judged top evening news program in the Triad via nomination for Best Evening Newscast in the Midsouth EMMY Region. 2 Wants To Know @ 5:30 was the Triad's only winning evening newscast nominee along with three stations in Nashville, Charlotte and Raleigh. WFMY News 2 formed the 2 Wants To Know investigative unit and daily newscast just seven months ago. Tanya Rivera is executive producer and host of the daily half-hour investigative news program. Cami Anthony is senior producer, Ben Briscoe investigative reporter, and Lechelle Yates investigative producer.
The WFMY News 2 Good Morning Show's Read 2 Succeed program has been nominated for Best Community Service in the Midsouth EMMY Region. Good Morning Show anchors Eric Chilton, Jackie Fernandez, Tracey McCain and Lauren Melvin present a high energy, interactive, pro-literacy program in Triad-area schools with the sole intent of helping elementary students develop a desire to read. Marketing Director David Reeve and the GMS teams have lobbied for literacy before 22,000 students in 48 schools since Read 2 Succeed's inception last year.
WFMY News 2's marketing department has also been nominated for an EMMY based on its work promoting the WFMY News 2 iPad app.
