WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Operation Christmas Child has been going strong since 1970 and in light of the typhoon in the Philippines, the program is focusing their efforts to help those impacted.

The program is the largest children's Christmas project of it's kind.  Samaritan's Purse funds the project and was created by Rev. Billy Graham's son, Franklin.

In honor of National Collection week, volunteers accepted shoebox donations filled with toys for children at Chick-fil-A locations in Winston-Salem.

Cindy Miller, a volunteer for the Piedmont Region, says Samaritan's Purse has already sent more than 500,000 shoeboxes to children in the Philippines.

If you would like to donate to help a child in the Philippines, Operation Christmas Child is accepting shoeboxes at the following Chick-fil-la locations:

Friday: 391 Knollwood Street from 5pm-8pm

Saturday: 3343 Sides Branch Rd. from 11am-2pm
