West Forsyth High School Plants Tree In Memory Of Former Student-Athlete Ryan Wood

CLEMMONS, NC-- West Forsyth High School is planting a tree on Thursday evening in memory of student-athlete Ryan Wood.

In January, 16-year-old Ryan Wood passed away from a rare form of cancer called burkitts lymphoma. He was first diagnosed in April 2012 but it came back again in November.

Ryan's friends shared his story through Twitter using the hashtag #PrayForRyan. The hashtag quickly became a trending topic and garnished the attention of celebrities including basketball superstar and Triad native Chris Paul.

On Wednesday, West Forsyth tweeted:

Join us tomorrow at 5:00 as we honor #65 Ryan Wood with a planting of a tree outside of the Football Stadium #TitanPride
