WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Police in Winston-Salem say two people died Wednesday morning from gunshot wounds at Salem Lake.
According to Forsyth County 911, the call came in around 11:30 a.m. at Salem Lake Park.
Police said the bodies were lying about 400 feet from the Park's entrance, near their vehicles, when they arrived.
Police told WFMY News 2 they recovered weapons at the scene.
Thursday, Detectives said their investigation revealed that after meeting at the park, 29 year-old Charles Timothy Nichols, Jr. shot his father, Charles Timothy Nichols, multiple times and then shot and himself. Both men died at the scene.
Police said there had been a domestic violence dispute within the family.
