HIGH POINT, N.C.-- Firefighters in High Point were kept busy Tuesday evening with a house fire that may have killed several pets.

Firefighters were dispatched to the house in the 1400 block of Wiltshire Road around 5:32 p.m. Crews remained on the scene for several hours. The top floor of the two story house collapse during the fire, according to a High Point Fire spokesperson.

One firefighter was treated on the scene for a minor injury.

Danita Lynch with High Point Fire confirmed to WFMY News 2 that the owners of the house got out okay, but some pets in the home did die. Lynch said they do not know how many pets were killed or exactly how many were in the house.

A neighbor told WFMY that the couple breeds dogs, but Lynch said they are still investigating and she couldn't confirm that information.

The cause of the fire remain under investigation. Lynch said crews will probably look for a cause first thing Wednesday.
