Legendary WFMY News 2 Anchor Sandra Hughes Honored At NCCJ

GREENSBORO, N.C -- NCCJ honored former WFMY News 2 anchor Sandra Hughes on Thursday night with the 2013 Brotherhood/Sisterhood Citation Award.

Surrounded by friends, family, community members and her WFMY News 2 family, thousands came out to support and congratulate her on this prestigious honor.

NCCJ Executive Director Susan Feit emphasized that Hughes was not only a broadcasting legend, but a trailblazer who "risked her life to break barriers" and "believed in extending her hand to help others succeed."

Sandra Hughes started out at as a reporter at WFMY News 2 and was the evening news anchor until her retirement in 2010. She now teaches journalism at NC A&T University.
