GREENSBORO, N.C. -- It's the chime of the bells we long to hear during the holidays.  And you'll see the Salvation Army red kettles all over the Triad starting Friday, November 8, 2013.

Major James Allison joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain on the Good Morning Show to talk about the need and why it's so important to give.

"With all the economic crisis the need is greater than ever for people to step up and help the Salvation Army help other people," said Major Allison.

Major Allison also explained where your donation goes.  "That money will go towards toys for children, food boxes for families anything that's left beyond Christmas will go to support our Center of Hope where today we have 85 residents, 52 of which are children."

When you see a Salvation Army red kettle this holiday season, please don't pass by it without donating something.  Major Allison says every piece of change or dollar goes a long way.
