MAPLE, N.C. -- Authorities in Currituck County have captured four monkeys that escaped from their home.

According to WNCT-TV, the Capuchin monkeys escaped Thursday morning. They say one of the monkeys bit a person, who had to go to the hospital.

Officials notified the public via 911 calls. Deputies were ready to help children at a nearby school get to their buses if the monkeys weren't captured by the time they were dismissed.

Officers captured two of the monkeys and tranquilized the other two.

The monkeys are now in Animal Control's custody.
