The non-profit "Preservation Greensboro" will use a $1,500 grant to hire a mediator. Their hope is to come to an agreement between the city and the building's owner.
Last week, city officials took their case to tear it down to the Historical Commission. Right now, roads around the hotel are blocked off because the city said the building is too dangerous to be around. The roof and several floors have already collapsed inside.
Because the building is historic, the city needs commission approval to demolish it. The commission will likely make a ruling at their next meeting on November 19th.
