On Monday, Nov. 11, the United States of America will celebrate and honor veterans who have served and those who are actively serving in the military.
WFMY News 2 has compiled a list of services to mark the day for the men and women who serve and protect our great nation. Also, included is a list of freebies and discounts from businesses.
Monday, Nov. 11
GREENSBORO -- 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. - Free breakfast for active duty and military veterans with a military ID at the Summit Cafe on 1050 Summit Ave.
WINSTON-SALEM -- 12 p.m.- 3 p.m. - Luncheon sponsored by Goler Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church at 620 N. Patterson Ave.
KING -- 10:15 a.m. - Starts at the Central Park Amphitheater, beginning at performances by the West Stokes High School Band and followed by Stokes County native and well-known musician, Taylor Vaden.
11 a.m. - Dedication Ceremony will be at the Veteran Memorial site, with music by Robbie Voss and Eric Marshall. Eagle Scout Cody McBride will present the Military Dog Memorial Dedication.
YANYCEYVILLE -- 11 a.m. - At the Old Historic Courthouse, a retired 92-year-old Marine from Chapel Hill, Bud Hampton, will give a speech. Bud is an Iwo Jima survivor. He was on three islands prior to landing on Iwo Jima on Feb. 19, 1945. The flag was raised four days later. Bud arrived on Iwo Jima with 10 officers in his company, but was the only survivor after nine days.
WINSTON-SALEM -- 11 a.m. - Wake Forest's military science department will hold a memorial service from on Perritt Plaza in front of Benson University Center to honor all military veterans past and present. Major Thomas A. Caldwell Sr., a training and force protection officer for the U.S. Military Observer Group at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., is the guest speaker.
Meineke of Greensboro - Free oil changes with valid Military ID at West Market Street and West Wendover Avenue Meineke businesses.
Free Hair Cuts: Military members can also come in on Veterans Day for a free haircut or to pick up a free haircut card to use, with proof of service, any day before Dec. 31, 2013.
Also, any customers who come in for a haircut, at any U.S. Great Clips salon will receive a free haircut card to give to an active/inactive/retired military member of any branch, including the National Guard.

Tuesday, Nov. 12
BURLINGTON -- 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. - Job Fair for Veterans at Burlington National Guard Armory, 1935 N. Church St. For more information call (336) 570-6800.
MARTINSVILLE, Va. - 10 a.m - 4 p.m. The Disabled American Veterans Mobile Service Office will open its "office on wheels." Disabled veterans and retirees will receive free professional assistance with their benefit services, such as development of evidence, claims application assistance, and much more. All veterans and their families are welcome to attend, and veteran applicants are encouraged to apply to all open ICF International positions.

GREENSBORO -- 7 p.m. - The UNCG Athletics Department will give free tickets to current U.S. military members and armed service veterans. Additionally, the Spartans are offering free tickets to TSA employees and airport security personnel for both games.
UNCG will host East Carolina at the Greensboro Coliseum.
WINSTON-SALEM -- 7 p.m. - Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Classic (Basketball) WFU vs. VMI: Special presentations throughout the game will honor veterans and military personnel. Wake Forest is offering free tickets at the door for those with a military ID.
Thursday, November 14
GREENSBORO -- 9 a.m. - The Greensboro Division of Workforce Solutions and VFW Post 2087 will sponsor a Veterans' Job Fair. Location: 2605 S. Elm-Eugene St.
Saturday, November 16
KERNERSVILLE -- 6 p.m. - The Triad community is invited to join the congregation of Main Street United Methodist Church as we honor and remember our military veterans with a brass concert.
