WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Seven new bus routes will now run from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Sundays in Winston-Salem.

City officials announced the new program back in July, and this Sunday, people got free rides as part of the preview of the new bus schedule.

The official start day is next Sunday, Nov. 3. For riders, the new routes mean new-found freedom.

"It really means a lot to have the independence and not having to wait and hope someone will come by and pick me up. I'm thinking of the families that will be able to bring their children downtown and participate in the multi-cultural events. I think that is excellent," says bus rider Diane Fitzhugh.

You can call City Link at 311 or the Winston-Salem Transit Authority at 727-2000 for the Sunday-only routes.
