Pedestrian Hit By Car In Burlington Dies

BURLINGTON, N.C. -- No charges have been filed against the driver of a vehicle in a deadly wreck that killed a pedestrian Sunday night in Burlington.

Police said the accident happened at North Fisher and Fulton streets just before 9 p.m. 

They found 44-year-old Donzelette Thaxton lying in the road. Officers said she died from her injuries at Alamance Regional Medical Center. 

Police say Thaxton tried to cross North Fisher Street from Fulton Street, and wore dark clothing. Witnesses told police that the driver of the vehicle had a green light and "appeared to be obeying all other traffic laws." 

The driver of the vehicle stopped and waited for police to arrive, according to investigators.
