GREENSBORO, N.C.  -- The second largest walk in the country and the longest running charitable walk in Greensboro brought the crowds out Sunday to fight hunger in the Triad.

Greensboro Urban Ministry's annual CROP Hunger walk helps benefit the ministry's Potter House, which feeds about 600 people in the Triad a day. Proceeds also help Church World Service, which is an outreach agency that works to fight hunger around the world.

WFMY News 2's Frank Mickens was on hand as emcee interacting with the crowd as they enjoyed fellowship, music, and the fall weather.

Christine Byrd, one of the walk's organizers said the event today raised close to $200,000 raised and several hundred pounds of foods collected.

Due to Sunday's efforts, the Greater Greensboro CROP Hunger Walk surpassed $5 million in funds to fight hunger over the event's 33 year history.
