GREENSBORO, N.C. -- It's not winter, but that's no reason not to be prepared for the cold temperatures that can smother the Triad when the season arrives.
Keeping with tradition of having a warm place for homeless people during cold nights in Greensboro, Urban Ministry is hosting an information meeting with churches Monday night.
Greensboro's Urban Ministry and local churches have collaborated for several years now to open Winter Emergency (WE) Shelters. Churches all over the city open their doors to homeless residents and provide a safe, warm place to sleep.
Church members and volunteers also prepare hot meals for those who stay in their shelter.
If you're interested in volunteering or hosting a shelter, the meeting is at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 14 at Interactive Resource Center; 407 E. Washington St., Greensboro.
