Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston Salem Police Department is looking for who is responsible for breaking into approximately 15 school buses.
Officers arrived to Meadowlark Middle School Tuesday morning around 5:30 a.m. to find stolen batteries from each of the buses. Police say there was no other damage done to the buses.
Police don't have any information on any possible suspects.
If you know anything regarding this crime you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 336-727-2800.
UPDATE as of 9:54 A.M.- We are being told each bus battery costs $70 when they are new. Since the stolen batteries are old the thieves could only get about $10 for them. This is the second incident in a week.
Last Friday, seven batteries were stolen from seven buses at Flatrock Middle School in Winston-Salem. Chris Runge with Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools said there is no way of knowing if the incidents are connected. There was no surveillance video at either of the locations.
School crews were able to get the buses back on the roads pretty quickly this morning, just a slight delay.
