FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. -- Way too many of our nation's war heroes return home only to be left homeless. To get veterans back on their feet, contractors, volunteers and those with Whole Man Ministries in Forsyth County are coming together to do their part to help.

We told you Sept. 11 about the Homes For Our Heroes project. The goal is to revitalize homes for Winston-Salem homeless vets.

When we visited, only exterior work was being done because of lead inside the homes. Now, E-M-E Industrial Services stepped up to that job to keep the project going.

EME Industrial Services is just one of many volunteering their services and time to get five homes on Cameron Avenue back in livable condition. They've been working 10-hour days since Thursday and hope to finish Monday. After that, other contractors will continue revitalizing the homes until they are ready to house 10 veterans.

The first home could be ready by November.
