WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.  -- The City of Winston Salem says some residents may notice discolored water starting Monday.

Crews will be working on pipes at the intersection of Vienna-Dozier and Skylark roads.

During their work, the Swann Water Treatment Plant will be offline. This will cause a higher water flow in the western part of the city.

The City says the water may appear red, brown, or yellow. Areas affected are west of Stratford and Reynolda roads. Residents in the Southwest, West, and Northwest wards may also be affected.

The Utilities Commission said the water is safe to use. However, they advise citizens not to wash clothes because it may stain light-colored clothing.

If you experience discolored water Monday, call CityLink at 336-727-8000.
