Winston-Salem, NC -- The Amber Alert for an abducted 7-week-old girl has been canceled, according to Winston-Salem police.
Officers responded to the 900 block of Rundell Street around 11 p.m. Saturday in reference to a disturbance. Kelly Ladd, of Goose Creek, SC, told police she was looking for her estranged husband, Terrence Ladd.
Kelly Ladd told police that Terrence assaulted her, stole her rental car and drove away from the scene. In the vehicle at the time, was the couple's 7-week-old daughter, Alexandria "Alexis" Elizabeth Ladd.
Police do not know if Terrence Ladd knew the girl was in the back of the car, sleeping at the time of the incident. Kelly Ladd told police she was afraid for her child's safety because Terrence Ladd was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Police originally issued the Amber Alert around 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Thirty minutes later, they canceled the alert when officers found Terrence Ladd at 227 West End Blvd.; Alexis Ladd was returned to her mother in good health, according to a news release.
Officers arrested Ladd on assault charges. His trial date and bond are still pending.
