GREENSBORO, N.C. -- There are reports around the city that Greensboro Police Chief Ken Miller is looking to leave his job.

He listed a tentative end date to his job on the social-networking website, "LinkedIn." It read, "available for employment March 2014... resume attached."

Chief Miller explained his profile and future plans first to WFMY News 2.

"There have been some questions today about my leaving Greensboro; I hope not to be leaving Greensboro. I enjoy serving as the Chief of Police here and I hope that I'll have a period of years ahead of me serving as Chief of Police here in Greensboro but I am pension eligible in the North Carolina retirement system effective March 1, and there are some issues that come up with that from a compensation standpoint," explained Miller.

He added, "the manager and I are having some discussions that we expect to come to fruition over the next few weeks and Manager Roth can make a decision about my continued employment."

Chief Miller has worked in Greensboro for three years and says his family "doesn't" want to leave.

"We've laid down roots here, and I think my family and my young children really want to stay put, so it's a function of economics for the family, I suppose to some degree, career opportunities, potentially for me that cause us in this situation really to even begin having this discussion. And, I hope to be able to negotiate something where we can stay," Miller said.

"I will say this, though, to me, it's important, the most important thing for me for the city of Greensboro the people we serve, to know is that our PD is strong and I will continue to lead this police department until the day I step out the door. And, I will lead it both in the immediate term and for long term, and I will lead it well."

Miller said he is no hurry to make a decision but will continue discussing his options and future with the city manager.
