Greensboro, N.C. -- Greensboro Police say a man who they believe fired gunshots at the Northwinds Apartment complex has surrendered.
A Greensboro police officer was investigating a robbery call at the complex on Lees Chapel Road, Thursday around 2:30 p.m. when the officer heard several gunshots. The officer then saw two men running. One of them was the intended victim of the shooting. He was not hurt and remained with police as they searched for the shooter.
K9 and patrol officers later located the man they believed fired the shots, 26-year-old Harviere Anton Tarpley inside of one of the apartment units. He peacefully surrendered around 4:30 p.m.
Tarpley faces charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon Discharging a Firearm within City Limits, and Simple Assault.
The shooting caused school buses to be delayed and police had to partially evacuate adjacent apartments.
The report of the robbery was not related to the shooting.
