HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Thursday, August 29 Police in High Point issued an Amber Alert for a High Point baby. The child was asleep in her Godfather's SUV when it was stolen from a grocery store parking lot.

Seventeen-month-old Shylin Olandea Neal was found safe Friday morning, August 30 in Greensboro. She was still inside the stolen 2003 Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle was parked in an apartment parking lot in the 700 block of Englewood Street.

Police said Shylin's godfather, Michael Campbell, left her sleeping in the back seat of his SUV outside a Food Lion at Brian Jordan Place. Shylin's grandmother told WFMY News 2 the godfather left the keys inside the vehicle while he went inside.

Wednesday, September 11, High Point said they charged Campbell with Misdemeanor Child Abuse. Campbell is facing charges for leaving the child unattended in the vehicle, police said.

Campbell told officers when he came back out the SUV was gone. He called police around 9:50 p.m. A statewide search began after police issued the Amber Alert. The FBI assisted local agencies with the investigation.

The alert was canceled around 9 a.m., on August 30. Police said they received a 911 call which led them to the vehicle and Shylin.
