LOVINGSTON, VA-- FBI says investigators confirm they have recovered the cell phone of Alexis Murphy, a Virginia teenager who has been missing since early last month.

The federal agency said Tuesday that it has been able to positively identify one of the phones recovered as part of the investigation as belonging to the 17-year-old.

Officials did not provide any other details about when or where the phone was found.

Murphy was last seen August 3 by her family. Her car was found in the parking lot of a multiplex in Charlottesville three days later.

Randy Allen Taylor, 48 has been held without bond since his August 11 arrest in Murphy's disappearance. He has maintained his innocence.

A grand jury is set to meet Sept. 24 to decide whether to indict Taylor.

CBS affiliate WTVR reports Murphy's mother said she was relieved investigators found her missing daughter's cell phone. Laura Murphy reportedly told the station that Alexis kept the phone with her all day and night.

Laura Murphy reportedly still believes her daughter is alive and said she wished Taylor would tell investigators all that he knew about her daughter's disappearance.

According to WTVR, search crews were looking in and around the Rockfish River Saturday for clues in the teen's disappearance. However, investigators would not confirm why they were at that location and what may have been found.
