High Point, NC -- Hundreds of local heroes made their way home Sunday after spending almost a year overseas.
More than 120 soldiers of the North Carolina National Guard's 5-113th Field Artillery Battalion came home to friends and family in High Point.
The unit spent the past year as Multi-National Force Observers (MNFO) as part of a long-standing mission in Egypt. The soldiers worked with troops from 12 other nations to patrol the Egyptian-Israeli border and ensure both sides complied with the 1979 Camp David Peace Accord.
The 5-113th FA is based in Louisburg, but it has armories in Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point.
Many of the soldiers who returned Sunday are from the Triad. They were greeted by friends, family and their communities.
The ceremony happened around 9 a.m. at the High Point Army Readiness Center.
