March On Washington 50th Anniversary: Events In The Triad

Wednesday marks the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington and Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic speech.

President Obama spoke at the Lincoln Memorial, the same site where King addressed a crowd of about 250,000 people.

Here a a few events happening in the Triad:

3 p.m. - Guilford College Campus: American Friends Service Committee will lead a community non-violence campaign "Peace is Now & Everyday.

5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. - Greensboro: Moral Monday "Taking Home the Dream" the event is in downtown park at South Elm Street and East Lee Street.
*Rain location Shiloh Baptist Church, 1210 S. Eugene St

5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Winston-Salem: "Taking the Dream Home" rally in Corpening Plaza in downtown at 231 W. First St.
*Rain location is St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 520 Summit Street.

6:00 p.m. - Greensboro: Panel discussion "Voices of the March on Washington: Looking Back & Moving Forward." The event is at the International Civil Rights Center and Museum at 134 S. Elm St.
