BURLINGTON, N.C. -- A registered sex offender in Burlington sent three pornographic images to a Facebook account that he thought belonged to a 15-year-old girl, but was actually run by undercover officers, according to the Alamance County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives began their investigation on Kelvin Lamonte Blackwell, 22, at the end of July.
Officers said they chatted with Blackwell using an undercover account. The chat led to email exchanges. Investigators said Blackwell used an email address that wasn't registered with the sheriff's office, noting that sex offenders on the registry must provide all forms of online identification to the sheriff's office.
Blackwell was charged with three felony counts of Disseminating Obscenity to a Minor and one felony count of Failing to Register as Sex Offender. He was taken to jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
