SALISBURY, N.C. -- Two of Casey and Sandy Parsons' children will remain in state custody, following a Department of Social Services hearing on Thursday, according to a report from WBTV.
Before the court appearance, the Parsons told WBTV they believe Erica is still alive, but is afraid to call them.
Casey Parsons answered WBTV's questions about the search of Sandy's storage building on his parents' property Wednedsday. Investigators said they found teeth, a hammer and a video tape inside the building.
She said she hasn't been to the shed in years and that it was used to store records. Casey told WBTV that she saved all her children's teeth and put them in envelopes for the tooth fairy.
She added that she was unaware of the red stains investigators found in her home during a 12-hour search.
When asked about their appearances on Dr. Phil's talk-show, Tuesday and Wednesday, the Parsons said they felt blind-sided. They said the producers told them their appearances wouldn't scare Erica from calling, but they said that's exactly what happened.
Erica Parsons is a 15-year-old girl who has been missing for the last two years. Her disappearance was recently reported to investigators, at the end of July.
Investigators released a computer-generated image to show what Erica may look like at present.
