CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte firefighters were called to rescue an injured dog Saturday morning.

A neighbor heard the animal barking and called for help.

Rescuers say the dog was trapped in the mud in McAlpine Creek Greenway and was too exhausted to free herself.

The dog was carried out of the woods on a stretcher.

Animal Control said the chocolate lab was tired and dehydrated, but is doing fine.

They are looking for the dog's owner.
