Winston-Salem, NC -- Winston-Salem-based Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is expanding in South Korea.
The company said in a news release they plan to open 60 new stores in South Korea during the next five years through franchisee Lotteria Co., LTD.
Krispy Kreme said Lotteria intends to significantly remodel more than half of the 73 existing stores there.
South Korean franchise regulatory authorities will have to approve the upcoming plans before the two companies can reach a final agreement.
Krispy Kreme has more than 540 stores in 21 international markets.
